Should Christian Fiction Blog Change It's Name? Urgent Prayer Request

Hi all.

I need some real prayer. Yesterday, I received an email from an old blogging friend, whom I have supported for years. Who wants me to not use Christian Fiction Blog as my blog's name, because it is similiar to hers. Disregarding the fact that CFB has been around since 2002, is syndicated, and helped her launch her blog.

I am so upset about it that I am bringing it here for private discussion. What are your thoughts? What should be my next move?

I love this person and deeply support her blog efforts and if she would have asked me two years ago when she changed her blog's name to something similar to mine I would have. I love this woman as a sister. However, I built Christian Fiction Blog long before she did. I can't believe I'm even having this conversation.

Your thoughts...

I do not think you should change your blog name for the mere fact that you started yours first. You have been reviewing Christion fiction and blogging since 2002, and a true friend will understand the consistent reputation you have in cyberspace. It was her choice to name her blog a similar name. You both can co-exisit. She knows that you aren't gong to publish anything that would shame her blog to be in association with her and vice versa.

Personally I think the branding on your blog is totally different, so no I wouldn't change the name. I remember distinctly reading your blog years back when I first noticed blogs. :-)

Sorry, this became a problem. I think everyone is doing their part to spread the word about Christian Fiction and it shows!

Have a Blessed Weekend!

Thanks, Ty.

At the time I posted the question I was so hurt about what was going on--still don't know where and why all this came about, but I didn't want to cause a controversy over blog name. That's not what I intended when I created the blog. I thought my tone of CFB was light and universal. I wanted to bring some issues about the industry to the forefront to the edify the members of Christian artists and to promote writers who don't get the press attention or the shelf space. Didn't think it was a problem at all...so I didn't want any more trouble.. Right now things seem to be okay. I've received so much great feedback and support about my position. Thanks for adding to that, girl. :)

I just signed up for this board and I don't know you very well, but I can tell by the way you speak about your friend that they are very important to you and this situation hurts you a lot. I don't really have an answer to your question beyond simply prayer, but I can encourage you to just have faith that when you do pray, God will send you an answer that will fair to all parties involved. You already show a lot of faith but simply asking us to pray for you. Maybe it's because I'm in the middle of watching Touched By An Angel, but I really believe that your circumstance will work out for the good in the end. Okay, I'm being quiet now.

Dee, you know what I think.
When you are a leader, a trailblazer and an innovator, people will copy, copy, copy!
BUT, the GREAT news is, what God has for you, is for you, no one can touch, compare or compete. Though I don't believe there is competition in Spirit, but as we know not everyone is on the same level of understanding and growth as a Christian.

I had a similar experience when someone started the Christian Author Network, light years after GoodGirlBookClubOnline.com started ours, but I never approached the other person about it for the reasons I mentioned above. It just shows an integrity issue when people do things like this. Pray, pray and pray some more, and don't lose sight of what makes what you do and your site so unique and special. Let the Lord fight this battle. Don't be disheartened or dismayed.

Thanks for all you do. Keep shining!

Marina

I really think that she is asking a bit much. Kindly, explain that you really used the title first. This is something true sisters (in Christ) don't need to fall out about. Move on girl...
It is really about HIM! As Ms Jackson said also, co-exist!
